The Austrian Science Fund FWF decided to fund the research proposal Enzymatic and non-enzymatic cross-links in collagen by PI Markus Hartmann. In the next four years together with Christoph Dellago from the Computational and Soft Matter Physics Group from the Universität Wien , we will use combined forces of molecular simulation and experimental techniques, like Raman and IR spectroscopy as well as scanning acoustic microscopy, to investigate the influence of different types of cross-links in collagen on its mechanical behavior.
